The GMC Granite won the"best in Show"
Award from Eyes on Design. The Interior overall concept refers
to the “industrial chic” approach captured by each and every
precisely detailed elements. A smart new organization in space
of the cluster elements offers a more intuitive and dedicated read of
the instruments, while a multiple of creative features surprises the
occupants balanced between industrial utility and defined luxury.
The precision, fit and finish of the
highly refined interior has a prominent center console, enhanced
steering wheel, finely crafted gages, mechanical compass, next
generation vehicle displays, illuminated back lighting, smart cargo
containment, and a new way of electronic shifting the transmission
making the interior of the Granite a precision instrument of
intuitive interaction fulfilling the needs of an early adopter and
urban hipster lifestyle.
The GMC Granite interior design
team headed by Frank Saucedo, Executive Director of GM Advanced
Design in California, includes Gael Buzyn, Peter Blades Nixon and Julien
Montousse as the Lead Interior Designer.
Prior to joining Mazda on october 1st,
Julien designed the overall concept and pushed the
theme with all details to a complete 3D file handed to the
engineering show car group in Warren MI for fabrication.
The car was introduced at NAIAS in January
2010.
